The new power plant replaces the previous oil-fired plant and will be fired by a combination of fuels. The reclaimers are located within the combination fuel warehouse, with the warehouse being divided into two sites (North and South). Due to the redundancy required, two reclaimers will work on the same rail in the same site area. As a result, a specific machine safety and anti-collision system was required to be implemented.
Each reclaimer is designed to scrape up to 1,100 t/h, with a rail gauge of 52 m and a double boom system (main and auxiliary boom in line). A special, hydraulically movable link is implemented between the main and auxiliary boom that enables both improved scraping efficiency as well as the ability to reclaim material from the bottom of the stockpile. Such TAKRAF machines are state of the art equipment and some of the largest built.
A unique feature of each machine is that each boasts a specifically designed platform to carry a small bulldozer, which it can drop off at any point along the stockpile for cleaning purposes.
Wolfgang Schilling, TAKRAF Project Manager, had this to say upon delivery of the machines to site “The entire project has been executed by a small but dedicated project team who have being very efficient and effective in getting things done. This achievement only serves to entrench TAKRAF as a leading global provider of handling systems and I am proud of our team for their commitment in getting things done safely and on time – proof of our commitment to getting the job done.”
